Meadows Completes Dominant Carrera Cup Weekend At Oulton Park

Michael Meadows takes two poles and two race victories at Oulton Park Now leads Championship by 23 points

Michael Meadows delivered a blow to his Championship rivals by completing a clean sweep in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Oulton Park.

After topping both of Fridays practice sessions, Meadows was able to continue his 100% front-row starting record in 2013 by clinching pole position for both of the weekends races.

This was followed by two comfortabe race victories and last years Champion comes away from the Cheshire circuit with a twenty-three point lead.

Saturdays qualifying session took place in the warmest conditions we have seen this year in the Carrera Cup and it made for an electric thirty-minutes. With the fastest laps coming late in the session Meadows left it until the final minutes, setting a number of laps fast enough for pole position and was able to clinch his fifth and sixth pole positions in 2013.

The weekends first race took place on Saturday afternoon and saw Meadows take an initially strong lead. However, troubles with the brakes dropped him back in to the clutches of the pursuing drivers. He was able to control his lead and keep thos behind at bay; delivering Samsung Smart Motorsport their fourth win of the season.

The second race win came more comfortably as a good start allowed for a one second lead in the opening lap. From this point Meadows extended his lead lap by lap - taking fastest lap in the process - and eventually taking his fifth win of 2013 by five seconds.

It was been an excellent weekend and a result we really needed to give ourselves that gap at the head of the table. The team did an excellent job to spot some issues we had with the brakes that could have really hampered our progress before race one, and Im pleased that I can repay them with two race wins and an increased lead in both the Teams and Drivers Championhip, said Meadows.

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB resumes at Croft on 21-23 June.
