Go Motorsport Live! set for success at Silverstone

Thousands of motor sport fans are expected to descend upon Silverstone on Sunday 7 July when more than 50 motor clubs, teams, championships, manufacturers and other organisations convene for the Motor Sports Associations inaugural Go Motorsport Live!

The new FREE event, which concludes National Motorsport Week (29 June7 July) just seven days after the British Grand Prix, is designed to show people how easy it is to get involved in motor sport, whether as a competitor or volunteer.

At one end of a diverse spectrum at Go Motorsport Live! are various local motor clubs, including Oxford Motor Club, which will stage an AutoSOLO with free passenger rides. There will also be a demonstration Autotest, complemented by a diverse range of other attractions.

At the other end are Formula 1 teams Sahara Force India and Marussia F1. The former will run competitions for factory tours on the day, while Marussia will provide a show car for the display area.

Virtual racing will be represented by The Online Racing Association (TORA)the first online racing club to be recognised by the MSA. Formed in 2008, the group aims to provide a low-cost way for people to get involved in motor sport and actively encourages its members to hit the track for real. It will bring gaming rigs that will allow people to try their hand behind the wheel on the latest simulation software.

Marshalling clubs will be on hand to advise show-goers how to volunteer in motor sport and to highlight the fact that 2013 has been designated the MSA Year of the Volunteer. Meanwhile Silverstone will provide discounted track experiences and tours of its Wing facility, giving visitors a chance to stand on the F1 podium.

Visitors to Go Motorsport Live! also get free entry to the finals of Formula Student, a competition run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers that challenges universities from across Europe to design and build single-seat racing cars to compete in static and dynamic events.

Nick Bunting, MSA Chief Executive, said: Go Motorsport Live! is shaping up not just to be the cornerstone of National Motorsport Week but also a highlight of the domestic motor sport calendar in its own right. With over 50 organisations getting involved, from local motor clubs to Formula 1 teams, and with thousands of visitors expected, preparations for the event have exceeded all our expectations.

The key message of the event is that whatever your age, background or budget, our sport has something to offer you. The breadth and diversity of British motor sport is unparalleled, with thousands of events across 22 separate disciplines taking place every year,  so if you want to find out how you can get started, come and find out first-hand at Go Motorsport Live!
