Oulton Park International Circuit in rural Cheshire will host rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship season next Saturday, 6th July, where points leader Charlie Robertson has his sights set on yet more silverware. While delighted to move to the top of the driver standings during the previous event at Snetterton in Norfolk, the third race meeting of the 16-year-olds debut season in single-seaters was soured when his HHC Motorsport-run car was excluded after Charlie took victory in round nine.An appeal regarding the exclusion, which was imposed when officials deemed the fixing of a 10mm aluminium strip on the rear wing not to have been compliant with the letter of the regulations, is still yet to be heard. So, as things currently stand, the Whyteleafe racers advantage at the top of the championship is three points.Aside from the Snetterton win which continues to hang in the balance, the Investigo-backed driver claimed his debut single-seater victory during round six at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit and also has three other podiums to his credit from the first nine races.Charlie has also earned the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup on two occasions and has twice claimed the BRM Rapide Award for setting the fastest race lap of the weekend, once at Brands Hatch and then again last time out at Snetterton. With qualifying and all three races at Oulton Park next weekend taking place on one day, the event is set to be the most demanding of the season for the F4 drivers and their teams. With little down-time between track sessions, consistency and an incident-free run will be of paramount importance.
Oulton Park is a great track and Im really looking forward to racing the F4 car there for the first time, said the Caterham School pupil, Itll be my race debut on the full circuit, we only raced on the Island layout in Ginetta Juniors, but Im confident well be able to hit the ground running and have three strong races there.Away from Formula 4, the MSA Academy member took part in a specially organised karting contest at Daytona Sandown Park in Surrey earlier this week for a piece which will be screened on the Sky Sports F1 Channel this evening, Thursday, 27th June, during the F1 Show at 20.00.Featuring drivers from the FIA Formula One World Championship-supporting GP2 Series and GP3 Series, as well as former Grand Prix winner and Sky Sports F1 pundit Johnny Herbert, one of the aims of the event was to give some of the UKs premier motor racing talent some deserved TV exposure.I had a great time at Daytona, it was a lot of fun and fantastic to meet Johnny Herbert, said Charlie, Its a real privilege being part of the MSA Academy and having opportunities like that, Id like to thank everyone at the MSA Academy for organising a great experience.Formula 4 qualifying at Oulton Park next Saturday, 6th July, is scheduled to begin at 08.40 with round 10 getting underway at 11.40, round 11 following at 14.30 and round 12 set to commence at 18.00.Provisional 2013 BRDC Formula 4 Championship Standings (after Rd9):1st Charlie Robertson, 164pts
