Harvey, Korjus and Regalia discuss Race 1
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Press Conference for Race 1 at Silverstone. Firstly we have Jack Harvey (ART Grand Prix), Kevin Korjus second (Koiranen GP) and Facu Regalia (ART Grand Prix).GP3 Series: Congratulations Jack, awesome race. Youre a GP3 winner, how does that sound?Jack Harvey: Well to win a GP3 race and do it on my own track was quite a special moment really. This weekend I was feeling good and the new tyres made a bit of a difference in the race. I had a decent start and a good re-start and the car allowed me to perform at the level I did without falling off. I set my fastest lap on lap 11 or 13 which was good.GP3 Series: How difficult was it to keep the focus during the safety car period and control the re-start?Jack: I think it was ok. I pushed pretty hard at the start and when I saw the safety car come out and it bunched the pack up, I didnt know how hard to push. I thought getting a good re-start was pretty essential. I stayed at the front and I saw the gap to me and Kevin was pretty similar in the final laps. I think we both took our foot off the gas. It was a good result for me, its also another win for ART Grand Prix which is great.GP3 Series: ART Grand Prix seem to be really on it after a difficult start to the season , what can you expect for Race 2 tomorrow, starting from P8 in front of your home crowd?Jack: It should be ok. I think the pace we had today, we should move forward. The car felt good and maybe we shouldnt be expecting to win but we should be aiming to be in the top five or six.GP3 Series: Congratulations Jack, good job today. Kevin: It all happened at the start, Daly jumped it so you were behind him of course but what happened when the lights went off?Kevin Korjus: I thought I had quite good starts in Valencia so I thought I did exactly the same in Silverstone, but I think the track has much less grip. It was very hot in Valencia but today I had a lot .I couldnt see right next to me. I didnt see anyone to the right of me and then I realised he was on the inside of me. Daly passed me on the left side and I almost crashed at the beginning. At the start it was quite hard to be with Daly, Harvey was already quite far away. After the re-start I tried really hard to keep up with Jack for the first few laps but I think I was a few tenths a lap still off and Facu was behind him. I just didnt have the pace to win the race today.GP3 Series: Talking about the pace, was it anything to do with tyre degradation as you had to push harder to catch up with him?Kevin: No I was really happy today as it was the first time this year I could push in the race. The first two rounds I couldnt push, but I knew I had a chance after the safety car re-start to push again. I went as fast as I could for three laps and it was still ok so it was a nice feeling.GP3 Series: Obviously starting from pole position and ending up P2, you must be disappointed but its still another good points scoring place and another podium for you, which is good for the championship?Kevin: I think if I could have made a good start maybe I couldve kept Jack behind me but he was quite a lot quicker in the beginning so maybe it wouldnt have been much different.GP3 Series: In tomorrows race, what can you hope for?Kevin: Personally Im hoping for a better start. He laughs. Of course if we can get a good start, I think I was second fastest in the race so if we have good race pace I think we have a chance to make some good overtaking moves.GP3 Series: Good job, thanks Kevin. Facu: Another podium finish. Youre on a roll after Valencia, how was the race for you?Facu Regalia: I said to Kevin on the podium I did the worst start ever in my life. I was maybe 100m with wheel spin. I saw Conor pass me in third gear whilst I was still in first gear, so you can still imagine. After that I was still trying to push and make a good race pace to pressurise Kevin. It wasnt possible. I was struggling too much with the car more than I expected. The thing I was quite surprised about was that the front was working really good in the complete race. We were under the safety car for five laps but even talking about the beginning of the race, the front felt really good. I was just struggling with the rears so maybe the tyres deg on the rears was higher. I struggled more than Jack. Maybe we need to work on that for the second race tomorrow morning.GP3 Series: But still a really good result for ART, very strong, which you must be satisified with?Facu: Yes were very happy as a team as we again have put two cars on the podium like we did in Valencia. I congratulate Jack for winning his home race so for sure hes really happy. The target for tomorrow will be to try and finish on the podium again. I will be starting from P6. It would be perfect for another rostrum and also for the championship. The target is to take as many points as possible so well see what happens. We will try to improve the car and go for it in the race.GP3 Series: Thanks Facu, good luck for tomorrow.
