GP2 Series: Jon Lancaster GP2 race winner. How does that sound?Jon Lancaster: It sounds like it was a long time coming and an incredible result. I have not raced for over a year. I was trying to get back into it and having done so and seeing how its gone, its just fantastic. You have to pick yourself up and tell yourself that you can do this. Huge thanks to Frank for the opportunity. Its been amazing. Nobody else would have done it the way that hes done it. Its an opportunity that we cant waste.GP2 Series: I know that you were pretty confident going into this race. You also made it look pretty easy, but how was it really from the car?Jon: It was controlled. I was confident because yesterday I was so surprised about how fast we are. The car felt good during qualifying, but we still did not have enough laps. From yesterdays race, I was really confident. I passed so many people, I could not believe it. When I came out from the pits, my engineer told me where I was and I could not believe that I was so far up. I was just pushing. I was angry with myself for hitting the anti-stall at the start. I was last in the first corner. I just pushed and thats where I was. Then today, after yesterdays start, I just went through the start again over and over in my head to make sure I got it right this time. We got it perfect. I was P1 in the first corner and managed the tyres and the gap.GP2 Series: Did the Safety car period worry you?Jon: Not really. Its one of those things that youve got to manage. Its been a while since Ive had a safety car especially in the lead. I managed it. I timed it right and got a good gap again. I pushed a bit for a couple of laps. I got my gap back and managed just making sure to look out for the tyres. We all know how quickly they could go.GP2 Series: And how was the degradation today?Jon: It was fine. My car was fine. Yesterday, I had problems with the front left like a lot of people. But really it was manageable. You have to look after it in few key places and look after the rear as usual and not scrub them unnecessarily in all the fast corners here.--GP2 Series: Rio P2 today. That must feel greatRio Haryanto: Yeah its been a long time coming. Last year we had some good races, but I did not manage to be on the podium. Today, finally, were on the podium. Its been a very hard beginning of the season, but hopefully, this could be our turning point.GP2 Series: Youve worked toward this podium finish all weekend long. Tell us about it.Rio: The conditions were very tricky. I mean, in the practice it was wet, and the qualifying session was in the damp. The team managed to do a good job to give me a good car this weekend and hopefully we can keep this momentum for the next races.GP2 Series: And today, you started from P2, but you did not have the greatest of starts How was it from the car?Rio: Yes. The start was not very good, but I managed to overtake Leal, but then Lancaster had a very good start and he was already in front of me in the first corner. After that, I was managing my tyres and hoping for Jon to drop off, but he was very quick from beginning to end. P2 for me its quite a good result, but we still have some work to do for next race.GP2 Series: That will be next week in Nurburgring. Last time you race there was in 2011 in GP3. What are your expectations?Rio: I won the race in GP3 two years ago. I like that track and hopefully we can be in the top 3 or 5 in qualifying and repeat again what happened this weekend here in Silverstone.--GP2 Series: James, P3 today. You are back on the GP2 podium. Happy?James Calado: It feels good. Its nice to be on the podium at my home race. It was a good start. I got to third and stayed there. And I scored some points. I want to thank ART, RSF, AllRoad management an my family who came to support me this weekend.GP2 Series: You had a good start and you were catching up with Rio, but then you dropped behind. What happened?James: Well, Im going through a bit of a hard time at the moment in terms of trying to find the right set up in races. I went through a few stages in tyre degradation. I had a few front left egg and then it went away and then it came back. It was inconsistent which is why I could catch Rio, and then drop back and then catch him again So the team have been working extremely hard since Monaco to try and solve this. Weve made a step, but we have to keep pushing to try and find a little bit more and get back in the front again.GP2 Series: The season has not gone your way so far, and with Nurburgring coming up next week, what are your expectations?James: There is a lot of pressure on me at the moment If we find some time, it will be a good race. I just hope its a good one for everyone because were all working as hard as we can. Im always positive, its one of my strengths. We found some real improvements in qualifying. Its one of the reasons why we qualified badly: I was not used to such a good car! I went from Monaco and Barcelona with really low grip to come here with high grip and then two laps before the rain was not enough to adapt. I said to the guys on the radio to leave the car as it is and to stick another set of Mediums on. I did not have the opportunity to do that because of the rain. Were going to Nurburgring now knowing what to expect in Qualifying. Hopefully, we will start of the front row, or on the first two rows and we can get decent results from there. In general, weve got a good race pace.
