Lap record assassinated in Townsville V8 Ute Race

Nathan Nitrous Pretty claimed the ARMOR ALL Pole Award and $1000 cash, whilst Kim The Assassin Jane led from the front row to win Race 1 today (Saturday, 6th July) at Round 4 of the Auto One V8 Ute Racing Seriesprotected by ARMOR ALL at the Sucrogen Townsville 400.Qualifying was made up of three sessions, with the slowest ten dropped after the first 10 minutes, the next slowest ten dropped off at the end of the next 7 minute session, with fastest 10 left to fight out the final 5 minute shootout.Pretty came out the victor, and also broke Ryal Harriss Qualifying record in a time of 1:27.2999 and is happy to claim his second Pole Award for the year.Im happy with the bounce back after the disappointment of the last couple of rounds and Im really enjoying being back at Townsville again, said Pretty.Kim The Assassin Jane was fastest in Q2 and Q3, but was unlucky to miss the top spot by only 0.0089 of a second in Q3.David Sieders survived all three sessions to bring his Ute home in third ahead of ENZED Drivers Championship leader Ryal Harris.Rookie Elliot Barbours Coolsport Ford was fifth fastest with The Thirsty Camel Hump Machine of Craig Dontas only one tenth of a second behind. Gary Baxter did a great job posting 7th fastest after flying out of pit lane with only 2 minutes of the session to go.Rhys McNally was eighth fastest, but forced to start from the rear of the grid with the rest of his teammates, (Benn Wilson and Richard Bloomfield), following an infringement of the fuel regulation.Teammates Ryan Hansford and Kris Walton rounded out the top ten.Rookie Jesse Dixon was sitting in 21st until the final minute of the session and pushed himself into 4th to make it through to Q2 he wasnt as lucky in Race 1 however and suffered steering issues, forcing him to retire at Turn 6 early in the piece.Jane took Pretty straight off the line into Turn 1, and held the lead the entire way, setting a new lap record in a time of 1:28.2339 to take his first race victory since Perth last year. The round win would be great but we still have to get through Race 2, the reverse grid race, especially when you win you have further to get through than everyone else. We had a disastrous start to the year at Clipsal and we started to get it together at Perth. Weve really come on since Darwin and now a front row start and a Race 1 win, so we are just looking forward to the rest of the weekend now. The Bob Jane T Marts Holden has great speed so hopefully we can give them all a run for their money, said Jane.Pretty didnt have enough to catch Jane and settled for second in the race. The battle was on for third between David Sieders, Harris and Dontas with Gary Baxter, Ryan Hansford and Kris Walton all in with a chance.Rookie Elliot Barbour held onto 8th until Walton took him on lap 7.The battle for 10th stole the limelight at the end of the Race with Rookie Adam Marjoram and former young-lion Stephen White, fighting out the last two laps with White dog walking away with the spot. However Marjoram was also ecstatic with the result after his 11th finishing position was drawn for the inverted Race 2 tomorrow, and the Auto One driver will start on Pole alongside his Williams Race Tech Teammate. Its really good to have good clean racing room, hes (White) an absolute legend, hes done a lot and to race against such an experienced guy is really, really, cool and Im definitely learning things off him, Im happy to be 11th and keen for Race 2, said Marjoram.Phonsy Mullan and Noel Edge made contact late in the race, with Mullan being served with a drive through penalty.Tony Longhurst was also served with a drive through penalty, after passing under yellow flags.Cam Wilson suffered engine issues all day, and will make an engine change overnight. The V8 Utes will be back on the grid tomorrow morning for the top 11 reverse Race 2 at 8:50am followed by Race 3, which will round out Round 4 of the Auto One V8 Ute Racing Seriesprotected by ARMOR ALL.See below top 10 results for Qualifying1 58 Milwaukee Racing, Nathan Pretty Holden VE 1:27.2999r2 27 Bob Jane T-Marts Kim Jane Holden VE 1:27.3088r3 8 Sieders Racing Team David Sieders Ford FG 1:27.3481r4 1 Tapout Energy Racing Ryal Harris Ford FG 1:27.63325 7 Coolsport/Elliot Barbour Ford FG 1:27.6507r6 22 Thirsty Camel Racing Craig Dontas Holden VE 1:27.7860r7 Sage Automation/ Roof Seal Gary Baxter Holden VE 1:27.98548 26 STRATCO Racing Rhys McNally Holden VE 1:28.00269 6 Hawkins Transport - HT Racing Ryan Hansford Ford FG 1:28.143310 68 Rentco Transport Equipment Rentals Kris Walton Ford FGSee below top ten results from Race 11 27 Bob Jane T-Marts  Kim Jane  Holden VE 1:28.2339R2 56 Milwaukee Racing  Nathan Pretty Holden VE 1:28.39223 8 Sieders Racing Team  David Sieders Ford FG 1:28.54524 1 Tapout Energy Racing Ryal Harris Ford FG 1:28.63185 22 Thirsty Camel Racing Craig Dontas Holden VE 1:28.52826 6 Hawkins Transport - HT Racing Ryan Hansford Ford FG 1:29.02037 7 3 Sage Automation / Roof Seal Gary Baxter Holden VE 1:29.01938 68 Rentco Transport Equipment Rental Kris Walton Ford FG 1:29.04189 7 CoolSport / Guide Dogs Elliot Barbour Ford FG 1:28.984210 19 Dunlop Super Dealer Racing Stephen White Holden VE 1:29.1187The V8 Utes will be first on track tomorrow at the Sucrogen Townsville 400 for their new qualifying session at 7:50amSee below full schedule:Saturday, 6th July Race 1 1:50pmSunday, 7th July Race 2 8:45amSunday, 7th July Race 3 12:10pm
