Facu Regalia was unablefight for the win in Race 2 at the Nurburgring, after an incredible performance Saturdayclaiming a dominant victory.
The Argentinean driver, taking part in the GP3 series with ART Grand Prix, was 8th on the starting grid and with high chances to be back into points places once again. But on the starting grid someone, who wasnt a mechanic of ART Grand Prix, pressed the neutral button on Regalias car, and it activated the clutch so the driver couldnt select first gear.
Regalia was forced to start from the pit-lane and obviously damaging his previous perspectives for todays race. In spite of its quite difficult overtake other cars at Nrburgring, Regalia overtook seven rivals within six laps. But Regalia retired on lap seven. Now its moment to investigate what happened on the starting grid and who pressed that button frustrating his chances to battle with series leader Tio Elllinas.
It was a shame, because we were in a good place to score more points. But the car shifted into neutral and it was impossible to select first or second gear. Then on the pit lane, I managed to do it but starting last my chances were really tight. I overtook several cars and my main target was to set fastest lap time but, even achieving it, you need to be into top-ten if you want to score those points, Regalia said. I was eying to finish ahead of Ellinas but it wasnt possible today. Anyway drivers behind me in the overall standings didnt score either and I leave Nrburgring second. At the end of this month, previous to summer break, we visit Hungary. I was fastest there in the collective test, so weve a good set-up basis to fight for podium there. There are eight races left and were quite strong.
Hungaroring round is taking place on 26-28 July.
