ohnny Blackshaw's Snetterton round-up

Best Finish for Johnny Blackshaw

Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw had a good weekend at the difficult Snetterton 300 circuit securing his best result of the season so far. He finished in 18th place at the end of the 14-lap National Superstock 1000 race.

In the scorching conditions at Snetterton Johnny was tested throughout the weekend to find a good set up on his Kawasaki ZX-10R machine. Testing various things over the weekend his team made a big change before morning warm up and this made a big difference on his times at the track.

Qualifying in 28th position he knew he had a lot of work to do during the race but he was eager to try and put his previous problems this season behind him and secure a good race result.

Johnny Blackshaw - "Things finally started to take a turn for the better this weekend at Snetterton, I was a little bit worried as I still had a technical problem that we couldn't find on the lead up to the race. Some useful advice helped us fix and sort this problem thankfully before we travelled to Snetterton on Thursday.

We worked hard to try and find a set up for qualifying and practice but with no previous data for the bike for previous years and with the amount of riders on the track it was difficult to get in some good clear lap times. As the weekend progressed I did start to feel more comfortable on the bike and we decided to make a big change on Saturday night and in morning warm up things felt much better.

A few more tweaks before the race and we were ready to go, with being so far back on the grid it was important to get a good start and not get caught up in all the problems on the opening few laps. It was a bit messy at the start until everyone settled down a little bit. I worked hard and got my head down and was soon able to make a few strong passes and the bike felt great. The heat was a factor with the tyres towards the end of the race but it didn't seem to affect me too much and I was able to finish in 18th place.

I'm so close to the points now and I felt really comfortable this weekend on the Accident Advice Solicitors Kawasaki and hope this is now the start of my season after struggling at the opening rounds. I'm still learning to adjusting my riding style from a 600 but slowly we're getting there. I must thank all the team for their help this weekend and helping me get to where I want to be heading. I'm looking forward to getting to Brands now in a few weeks' time."
