The FIM has confirmed Sweden, Australia and Russia have changed their starting line-ups for the 2013 Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup.
World champion Chris Holder has been officially withdrawn from the Australian side for Event 1 against Poland, Russia and Latvia at Polish track Czestochowa on Saturday (July 13).
This is due to the fractured and dislocated hip, broken pelvis, shattered heel and broken shoulder he suffered in an horrific crash while racing for Poole at Coventry last Friday. His friend and fellow Poole resident Davey Watt takes his spot in the team and Aussie champion Troy Batchelor captains his country for the first time.
Russian brothers Artem and Grigorii Laguta have both been withdrawn from their team and replaced by Valdimir Borodulin and Ilya Chalov.
The Swedes go into Event 2 at Kings Lynn on Monday (July 15) without FIM Speedway Grand Prix racer Fredrik Lindgren. He is set to sit the competition out to overcome the arm injuries he suffered at the Moldow Danish SGP in Copenhagen on June 29. His team mate Peter Karlsson has also pulled out after a crash at Lakeside last Friday left him with head, knee and foot injuries.
Swedish champion Daniel Nermark has been drafted in, along with Dennis Andersson. They join Peter Ljung and Jonas Davidsson in the side to compete against Team Great Britain, Denmark and the USA.
