eBay Motors drivers Colin Turkington, Rob Collard and Nick Foster all took part in the two-day test at the Norfolk circuit, putting more valuable mileage on the all-new NGTC-spec BMW 125i M-Sports being raced by the team this season. On the back of its best race weekend of the season to date, the eBay Motors team again showed its speed with a strong showing during Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship testing at Snetterton. While part of the focus of the test was on tyre development work with series supplier Dunlop, the test also gave the eBay Motors team the opportunity to evaluate a series of new components, while also working on set-up ahead of the sixth round of the season; which takes place at the same circuit early next month. For Colin, the opening day of running saw him fifth quickest on the combined times, while he ended Wednesday in sixth having run through a busy testing programme across the two days, which included a series of runs on Dunlops 2014 development rubber.Colin Turkington said: Its been a good few days and weve put some good mileage on the car, he said. This has been an important test for me as I havent raced at the circuit since the layout changed, so its been good to get a decent number of laps under my belt ahead of the races next month. After carrying out some tyre work for Dunlop, I was able to try out various things on the car, some of which worked better than others. However, the car was quick and its encouraging to now have a car that is both quick and well balanced on different kinds of circuits.
Weve been competitive these past few days, and while I dont think we have the fastest car over a single lap, weve shown good pace over a race run, which could prove to be our strength in the second half of the year.Robs test started with him posting the eighth fastest time on Tuesday before a strong showing on Wednesday ended with him setting the fastest time of the two day session amongst the eBay Motors men, going fourth fastest on the combined times.Rob Collard said Its been a tough two days because its been so hot in the car, he reflected, but its also been very productive. Weve been able to complete hundreds of laps and have evaluated a lot of different things. All three of us have had our own programmes to work through and weve all been competitive, which is really encouraging.I ended up fourth fastest on the second day and that was on the regular tyre whereas some of the others set their best time on the soft tyre or on the development tyres that were available. Im very pleased with the performance of my car and to have all three setting top ten times across the two days is a massive boost for the team. Weve put in a good performance that bodes well for the rest of the year.Nick meanwhile was one of the drivers to set his best time on the opening day of running, where he was tenth quickest on the combined times. He then ended the second day in 19th place, albeit only 1.4secs away from the top ten around the longest circuit on the BTCC schedule.Nick Foster said: I think its been a really productive two days, he said. Weve been able to try a lot of things out, the car feels good and weve been able to set some good times. The car is a lot more driveable now than it was earlier in the year and even though we are still working on the set-up, it was good to be able to come to the test and have a quick car from the start. On these test days you dont know what everyone is doing, so well only know where we really stand when we come back next month for the race weekend and get into qualifying. The car continues to improve and we are improving when it comes to getting the most from it, so well see how we get on when it comes to the race weekend next month.
