at the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand PrixBryce Miller and Marco Holzer Ready to Make a Championship Move with the No. 48 Chopard/TOTAL Porsche 911 GT3 RSR teams Second-Straight Top-Five at Canadian Tire Motorsports ParkPaul Miller Racing, Bryce Miller and Marco Holzer are looking to make a major move in the 2013 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) GT standings this weekend, July 2021, in the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park where the No. 48 Chopard/TOTAL Porsche 911 GT3 RSR team will be looking for its second-consecutive top-five finish on the Mosport road course.
The mid-season event of this years 10-race ALMS schedule, the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix can be seen in virtual live coverage on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PDT this Sunday, July 21. Live online streaming begins Sunday on ESPN3 at 11:45 a.m. EDT/8:45 a.m. PDT with the green flag for the 2-3/4 hour race scheduled to drop at Noon EDT.Bryce Miller and former co-driver Sascha Maassen finished fifth in the No. 48 Porsche in last years race at Mosport and a matching or better result Sunday would be the teams best showing of the 2013 season.
I am really looking forward to Mosport, Bryce Miller said. We have always had a really good set up on our car at this track and have had some good relative successes as a team there.
Last years fifth-place finish for the No. 48 at Mosport was the second of three 2012 top-five showings. The team has had the performance and pace to post similar and even better results in 2013 but so far has scored a string of season-best sixth-place showings in the first three races of the year at Sebring, Long Beach and Laguna Seca. The No. 48 also finished seventh one race ago at Lime Rock Park earlier this month after Holzer was hit in the races closing minutes.
We are still very close to bringing home a major result, Bryce Miller said. I know it and the team knows it. It has been a lot of work for the team but we are all very excited and having a lot of fun in our pursuit. I hope it can happen at Mosport!
A strong Mosport result would also further factor Paul Miller Racing and its drivers into the tight ALMS GT team and driver point standings. Although the team is still on the brink of its best 2013 showing, its string of four consistent finishes in a row has kept both the No. 48 and its driving duo in the championship mix.
Miller and Holzer jumped one spot to seventh in the drivers point standings after Lime Rock at 30 points. The No. 48 entry in turn is the highest ranked single-car effort in the GT team championship, currently ranked third with the same 30 point total. The team currently trails only the two-car teams of SRT Motorsports in second place and BMW Team RLL and Corvette Racing that are tied for first.Revamped and rechristened Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Mosportas it is best knownhas recently been put through perhaps the tracks most significant upgrade in its 54-year history. This includes a pit-lane extension of 300 feet, a new and modern event and media center, all-new asphalt at all corners and paved runoff areas at Turns 1 and 2. The 10-turn, 2.459-mile road course is among the fastest in ALMS and a universal favorite among teams and drivers alike.A two-day event and first Sunday race of the year, the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix begins today with an unofficial test day. Official practice on Saturday will be followed by GT qualifying that afternoon at 3:50 p.m. EDT, with live online coverage beginning on ESPN3 at 3:20 p.m. EDT.
