Seb Morrist targets elusive first F4 win

AS SECOND HALF OF SEASON BEGINS

British Racing Drivers Club Rising Star Seb Morris will arrive at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit in Kent this coming weekend, 27th/28th July, determined to secure his elusive first victory in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship as the second half of the categorys inaugural season gets underway.

Marford-based Seb, who has already tasted championship success in Ginetta Junior and Protyre Formula Renault in his young career, goes into the fifth race meeting of the F4 season third in the driver standings and within just 14 points of the series lead.

With five podiums to his credit so far, the 17-year-old Ginetta Ambassador has been unsurprisingly consistent and a title threat from the opening weekend of the season where he actually topped the points table after the first three rounds.

Although some misfortune along the way has hindered his attempts to win more silverwarenot least a costly non-finish in round five following a tangle with a rival when F4 last visited Brands Hatch back in Maythe Welsh racer has remained squarely in the title picture throughout.

While the Indy Circuit experience at Brands Hatch earlier in the season may not have been as Seb and the Hillspeed team wanted, determination is high to battle for more podiums and mount a bid for a maiden race win as F4 visits the longer Grand Prix configuration for the first time.

Im really looking forward to going back to the Grand Prix circuit at Brands, said Seb, I won there in Formula Renault last year [en-route to claiming the Winter Series title] and itd be great to take my first Formula 4 win there too.

Its been a challenging season so far, we started on the back-foot without much in the way of testing and weve had some problems getting the tyres switched on as well. Taking all of that into account though, were still in the championship top three and not far away from the lead which is a strong position to be in at the halfway point of the season.

Since the previous three rounds at Sebs home track, Oulton Park, just over a fortnight ago, the Abbey Gate College student has been busy raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Childrens Charity as part of a 700-mile cycle ride around the circumference of Wales.

Embarking on the physically demanding journey the day after the Oulton Park race meeting, Seb, his father Phillip and best friend Matt Groome completed their challenge within nine days and have, to date, managed to raise 165% of their target totalequating to almost 1,200 for GOSHCC.

We had an amazing time during the cycle ride, it was unbelievably challengingespecially in such hot weatherbut a real achievement, added the Welshman, On behalf of my dad and Matt, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated money to Great Ormond Street. Were all hugely grateful and delighted we could do our bit for such an amazing charity.

Anyone who would like to make a post-cycle ride donation to this most worthwhile of causes is welcome to visit http://www.justgiving.com/SebMorris-MattGroome
