Lando Norris left frustrated after winning ways halted in Rotax Super One

ADD Motorsports driver Lando Norriss amazing season came to a temporary halt in the Rotax Super One this weekend.

The Glastonbury racer could only manage a 14th place finish in Scotland despite winning the pre-final with some ease. But a week after becoming European champion, he remained in high spirits.

And he said the experience would only make him more focused as he prepares for a world title attempt later in August. He said: We struggled a bit with the kart set-up in the final and I couldnt build up my corner speed as much as I would have liked. But there are positive things to take away and learn from the weekend.I wanted to win, but these things happen. It was a very competitive field and I still had some fast times and won a few races so it wasnt all bad.

Lando finished fourth in his qualifying group and sixth overall, posting some quick lap times and doing better than he was expecting early on, back on British soil.

He was knocked off the track on the first corner in the first heat which left him languishing in 15th, but he managed to pull himself back into fourth by the end.

By the second heat he was posting some times as quick as the seniors and was delighted to finish first.

The pre-final finished in the same manner. He started in second place, and although fell off the pace, managed to pull himself back into contention, waiting for a mistake from the leader before getting in front, pulling away and winning the race.

Lando began the final in pole position where he stayed for three laps. But as his pace began to dip and the karts dry pace proving not as quick as it had been in the wet earlier, he was overtaken and found himself in sixth.

After being hit from behind he found himself further back in the pack and after the race he was then penalised five places for touching another kart during the closing laps, which gave him a final position of 14th.

But after winning the WSK Euro Series earlier in the season and coming second in the Master Series, he was crowed European champion in the CIK-FIA euro championship last weekend, giving him every reason to look for the positives.

He added: It was disappointing but we have the world championships coming up and we want to concentrate on getting things right for then.
