Motors TV Weekend Highlights

3/4 August

Though much of the racing world is currently enjoying a summer break there's no backing off on Motors TV, with the usual feast of live action and unmissable highlights airing on the High Speed Television Channel this weekend.

Sunday's coverage of the FIM MX World Championship tops the bill as the series contests the Czech Grand Prix. The race takes place in the small town of Loket which, as well as the MX event, enjoys two further claims to fame: its popular annual opera festival, which is staged in an open air amphitheatre, and being featured in the James Bond movie Casino Royale, albeit in the guise of Montenegro. On the MX front its business as usual, with Red Bull KTM dominating both MX1 and MX2 thanks to Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings respectively.

Sunday morning will require an earlier-than-usual alarm call for stock-car fans, with delayed-as-live action from the NASCARNationwide Series' trip to Iowa airing at 08.30. New championship leader Austin Dillon will be hoping to defend the narrow points lead he snatched during last month's Indiana 250 at the short-track venue.

Things have a distinctly Australian air on Saturday with highlights of V8 Supercars' trip to Queensland Raceway. An unspectacular weekend last time out in Townsville saw Jamie Whincup's points lead shrink somewhat, but the four-time champion remains strong favourite to secure yet another series crown. He'll be keen to get back to winning ways at the 1.95-mile circuit.

And if that's not enough Down Under action for one weekend then be sure to catch our coverage of the V8 Utes series Townsville event. The Supercars support category is keen on driver nicknames, with highlights including reigning champion Ryal 'The Kid' Harris, 2011 victor Chris 'Gypsy' Pither and two-time title-winner Grant 'Grunta' Johnson. Motors The High Speed Television Channel TV fully approves.

Those who missed it last weekend can catch extensive highlights from the 24 Hours of Spa on Saturday. The event was gripping from the word go, with lap one producing one of the ultimate near misses through Eau Rouge. You can also catch up on the supporting British F3 races, which contained their fair share of drama thanks to the magic combination of eager young drivers, Spa and inclement weather.

And there's plenty more besides, including our exclusive coverage of the Eurocup Tractor Pulling series from Dutch venue Made, British Rallycross' annual overseas event at Maasmechelen in Belgium and Grand-Am highlights from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If youre taking a summer break, what better way to spend it than with Motors TV?
