Charlie Robertson Hoping For Improved Fortune As BRDC F4 Resumes

Title challenging BRDC Formula 4 Championship racer Charlie Robertson is keeping his fingers crossed for a problem-free outing when the category revisits Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit next weekend, 17th/18th August, for the sixth race meeting of the eight-event season.Rounds 16, 17 and 18 of the campaign could well be the most crucial races of the 16-year-olds rookie campaign in single-seaters, having encountered a series of issues recently which have hit his championship placing.As a one-time leader of the F4 standings, Whyteleafe-based Charlie is hungry to climb back up the points table after slipping to fifth place last time out at Brands Hatch. Although the event was his lowest scoring of 2013, due to several problems, he still managed to secure his sixth podium of the year in round 13 even though battling a recurring problem with the paddle-shift gear change.The inaugural season of BRDC Formula 4 action actually got underway on Silverstones famous Grand Prix configuration at the end of April. Since that time, and despite his lack of experience in open-wheel car racing, Charlie has proven to be one of the fastest drivers in F4 and will undoubtedly be in the fight for more podiums next weekend as long as no further technical woes get in the way!Brands Hatch was a tough weekend, and disappointing too, so Im really determined to put all of that behind me and focus on picking up as many points as possible at Silverstone, said the Surrey teenager, We really need a minimum of three podiums if we can next weekend, I need to pull as many points back as possible on Jake [Hughes] at the top of the championship.Its been a very strong first season so far, the guys at HHC [Motorsport] have done a fantastic job with the car and weve had the pace all year. Unfortunately, we have had more than our fair share of problems but Im still confident we can fight for the title over the last nine races. Absolutely anything can happen.The Investigo-backed racer made a consistently strong start to his F4 bid during the opening three rounds at Silverstone. From there, he secured his maiden single-seater podium in round four at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit and capped a sensational weekend with his first victory in round six. Since then, despite a run of bad luck, he has added podiums at every event.Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit qualifying will take place at 10.30 next Saturday, 17th August, with the first race of the weekend, round 16, following at 14.45. On Sunday, 18th August, round 17 will begin at 12.00 with round 18 scheduled to commence at 15.10.
