SWR Plotting Victorious Homecoming As F4 Heads Back To Silverstone

Multiple race-winning BRDC Formula 4 Championship team SWR is plotting a victorious return to its home track, Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, a week from now when the popular junior single-seater category arrives back in Northamptonshire for the sixth event of the 2013 season.

Based just 45 minutes down the road in the Oxfordshire town of Chipping Norton, SWR has enjoyed an outstanding debut season so far and is determined to add to its impressive tally of three race wins next weekend, 17th/18th August.

Karting graduates Jack Barlow and Matty Graham have both tasted the victors champagne already this year and go into rounds 16, 17 and 18 holding fourth and seventh position, respectively, in the driver standings.

As far as team success goes, the highlight so far for SWR was the remarkable one-two finish achieved last time out at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit, where Graham headed home Barlow, a result which made Sean Walkinshaws eponymous squad the first in BRDC Formula 4 to achieve the coveted feat.

Brands Hatch was a great weekend for the whole team, the one-two result was absolutely fantastic and a real reward for all of the hard work and effort everyone has been putting into SWRs maiden season, said Walkinshaw, We cant wait to be back at Silverstone, its always good to be racing close to home and having been so strong there at the start of the year, were feeling confident.

Notably, Hastings racer Barlow claimed his maiden win at Silverstones GP Circuit during the first weekend of the season before adding another victory at Oulton Park in July. The 18-year-olds most recent visit to the rostrum was the aforementioned runner-up spot in round 14 at Brands Hatch.

Graham, of course, will arrive at SWRs local track on the crest of a wave after claiming his first car racing win just a fortnight ago and backing it up with another top three result in the subsequent race, round 15. The 17-year-old, from Edmundbyers in County Durham, also climbed the podium during round three at Silverstone back in April so confidence is running high for the return there.

Chinese driver Zou Sirui, who completes SWRs three-car line-up, is seeking his first top 10 finish of the year and with knowledge of the 3.66-mile GP track from the first race meeting of the year he will be aiming to utilise the experience to his advantage.

Siruis best result of the season so far has been 14th position, a finish he matched at Brands Hatch two weeks ago, but the Far East racer is determined to break into the top 10 sooner rather than later. Due to his Chinese licence, though, Sirui is ineligible to score F4 championship points.

Qualifying for round 16 of the BRDC Formula 4 season will commence at 10.30 on Saturday, 17th August, with the race itself beginning at 14.45. On Sunday, 18th August, round 17 will start at 12.00 with round 18 getting underway at 15.10. Television highlights of the Silverstone GP races will be screened on ITV4 and ITV4 HD at 18.00 on Sunday, 25th August.
