Superstock 600 Podium for Joe Collier

Joe Collier secured his third podium of the season at round eight of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship at Oulton Park this weekend, where he gained a fantastic second place for the Haribo Starmix Triumph Team. Joe worked hard all weekend and was setting consistent lap times during the practice and qualifying sessions and ended up qualifying in sixth place for the 12-lap race. He raced a hard solid race and was able to take a good second place which hoisted him to third place in the Championship standings.

Joe Collier - "It was a good weekend which turned into the result I was hoping for, we ran an older engine this weekend which I feel more comfortable with and after a few changes in practice I was able to qualify on the second row in sixth position. I was reasonably happy with this but I did want to be further forward. I managed to gain a good start and not get tied up with any first lap incidents.

I was sat back in fourth place for half of the race but my lap times seemed to be improving and I knew I had the pace to run with the front runners. I managed to set the fastest lap of the race on lap eight and knew me and Cal Cooper were bridging the gap on the two leaders. I was able to make a clean pass on Cal and work my way through to third place and on the final lap coming out of the last turn Jordan's (Simpkin) bike just stopped, it meant I gained an extra place and certainly wasn't unhappy to finish second.

The points have also helped with my Championship position and I am now sitting in third place in the standings. After missing a couple of rounds I just need to carry on being consistent now until the end of the season. I'm looking forward to getting to Cadwell Park in a few weeks time as it is one of my favourite circuits that we race at."
