Solid weekend for Johnny Blackshaw at Oulton Park Superstock 1000

Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw had a good solid weekend at round eight of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Oulton Park and secured 22nd place in the 14-lap race.

After a number of changes during the practice and qualifying sessions the youngster was able to take off 0.5 from his time he set during the qualifying session at Oulton Park back in May. He qualified in 29th place and was eager for a good race, another good start saw him move through the pack and was locked in a four bike battle for 21st position.

Johnny Blackshaw - "It was a good weekend for us in general we learnt some more new things with the bike and I was able to take a big chunk of time off from when we were at the track in May and just shows that we are making progression.

The entire team worked hard this weekend to help me find a good set up on the Kawasaki and I wanted to get a good result here as it is my local round and I had a few of my sponsors coming to watch.

I got a good start in the race and was able to make up several places on the opening few laps and I was working hard and pushing myself forward. I was able to go 0.2 faster in the race than I did in qualifying so we are improving all the time and learning each outing how to ride a 1000 machine better.

I am really enjoying it now and we are slowly making progress and getting some good set up for 2014. Despite my good lap times half way through the race I started to get terrible arm pump and Oulton is a track I have suffered with it before even on the 600 but being on the bigger bike makes things a little tougher and you are riding harder.

I need to get my arms sorted at some point to avoid any problems like this next year and get the operation to get them fixed. The race was good and I was in a really good little battle, I will be doing a test at Cadwell before we go so hopefully we can find a good set up before the race.

Once again I must thank Dave, Dan, Cliffy and my Dad for all the hard work that they put in every weekend and obviously my sponsors who without them it wouldn't be possibly for me to race especially Tamara and Dave at Accident Advice Solicitors."
