Auto GP set for Round 6 of 2013 at Ring

Auto GP is ready to enjoy a spectacular maiden run at the Nurburgring as the series, promoted and organized by Enzo Coloni, will run at the German venue for the first time since its inception in 2010. Auto GP will also joining for the first time the DTM championship, as the top touring car series is expected to draw large crowds once again at one of its most classic venues. In the past, Auto GP raced in Germany at Oschersleben, so Team and Drivers will have to prepare for a completely different challenge at the famed circuit near Adenau. The Nurburgring is a track with Formula 1 standards, a welcomed addition to a schedule which also included Monza, Budapest and Silverstone for 2013.With five rounds completed so far this season, two drivers are tied for the championship lead. Sergio Campana (Ibiza Racing Team) and Kimiya Sato (Euronova Racing) will definitely be among the frontrunners as they both line-up with 138 points. While the win count is also tied (three each), the Italian holds the nod at the tie-breaker for the most second places against his Japanese rival. On the other hand, Sato will count on some extra motivation during the summer break after Mugello, as he made his Formula 1 debut.

The 24-year-old racer joined the Young Driver Test with the Sauber Formula 1 Team for a full day of activity. While the Swiss squad's staff helped him in his maiden steps at the top of the motorsports ladder, he recorded some impressive laptimes also in comparison to the most renowned young prospects in business. In Germany, his rival Campana will rely on a new team-mate, Tamas Pal Kiss, who was signed by team owner Giuseppe Cipriani for a ride at the Ibiza Racing Team. Currently standing in third place in points is Super Nova International's Vittorio Ghirelli, who relies on a tiny margin on team-mate and former F.1 racer Narain Karthikeyan.  Another great new addition will debut in Germany, where 26-year-old female racer Michela Cerruti will be joining the MLR71 camp after a very positive test at Vallelunga. New faces will also come from the teams' compartment with the addition Comtec by Virtuosi, relying on the services of rookie Roberto La Rocca, coming from the Formula 3 ranks.Ghinzani Motorsport will retain Kevin Giovesi and Robert Visoiu and MP Motorsport will also have an untouched line-up consisting of Dutchmen Meindert Van Buuren and Daniel De Jong. The weekend will kick-off with a 45-minute test session on Friday at 11:50, while qualifying will follow at 15:45. As usual, Race 1 will be taking place on Saturday afternoon at 16:25. Race 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 8:55 AM.
