Daniel Lloyd In Pursuit Of Porsche Carrera Cup Podiums North Of The Border
Knockhill Circuit in Fife hosts the annual visit of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship next weekend, 24th/25th August, where Daniel Lloyd aims to get his season fully back on track and mount a bid for some long overdue silverware on his return north of the border.Having finished on the podium at the tight and twisty 1.27-mile Scottish venue during his maiden season in the category last year, the Huddersfield-based Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar wants a repeat at the very leastespecially coming off a recent run of misfortune. After taking five podiums from the first eight races of the current campaign, including a memorable victory at Thruxton in early May which started a run of four straight top two finishes, the 21-year-old then experienced luckless events at Croft in North Yorkshire and Snetterton in Norfolk.Even so, the Team Parker Racing driver heads to Scotland fifth in the championship but knows two consistently strong podium finishes, and a suitably big points haul, will be of paramount importance if he is to get back on terms with the top three in the standings. We keep saying were going for podiums every weekend, hopefully this time itll come true and well get back to how things were during the first part of the season, said Daniel, It has been tough over the last few rounds but Im sure well have the pace to be at the front at Knockhill. While recent results have disappointed the West Yorkshireman and cost him vital points, as well as championship position ultimately, Daniel is as focused, committed and determined as ever to steer his Porsche 911 GT3 to some well-deserved top three finishes.Knockhill can be harsh on the Porsche with the huge kerbs, theyre not ideal for the car but I do enjoy racing there, he added, There are a couple of places to try and pass, your best bet though is to try and push someone into a mistakewhich is always the case in Porsche anyway. Its a fun track to drive, Im looking forward to it and confident we can get back on the podium.Following the usual free practice sessions on Friday, 23rd August, qualifying for rounds 13 and 14 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship will take place at 13.50 on Saturday, 24th August. Race one of the weekend will follow at 10.15 on Sunday, 25th August, with the second encounterwhich will be screened live on ITV4 and ITV4 HDgetting underway at 16.15.
