GMG Continues Lamborghini Super Trofeo Podium Streak Through Kansas

Running for the second time in series history, Global Motorsports Groups (GMG) three-car entry during this weekends Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series doubleheader would once again prove formidable, taking a consecutive series of podium finishes. It was a great weekend for everyone, stated GMGs James Sofronas. We learned a lot in Lime Rock that we were able to apply to this event, and it was fun to see everyone develop over the two days. Bruce and Burt Jenner came very focused, and it showed as the weekend progressed. Tom and Parris continue to show pace, which they proved with two podiums, and I always enjoy any time I can work with with Lawrence.Following consecutive victories during the opening two rounds in Lime Rock, the crew at GMG knew that all eyes would be on them headed into the third and fourth rounds at Kansas Speedways all-new infield road course.Taking the best result of the weekend was the No. 14 GMG Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo of Lawrence Holden, with special driving assistance from James Sofronas. Having worked together over the years, the duo played strategy to their advantage during the opening round on Friday night. Taking advantage of an opportune yellow, Sofronas, who was playing a coaching role for Holden, brought the No. 14 in just as the pit window opened. With this allowing Holden to see the car through to the end, the No. 14 would take third overall in Fridays round. A quiet race two would see the team in sixth on Saturday.Im happy with the weekend, stated Holden. The series has done a great job with the presentation and thought process behind it all, and its impressive what theyve been able to assemble. GMG did a great job as always to run a solid program, James did a great job of coaching me through, and Im happy to walk away with a trophy. I think this is a great series that will only get stronger in the years to come.Taking successive podiums in the sportsman category were drivers Tom OGara and Parris Mullins. Based out of Southern California, the duo put their Lime Rock experience in the No. 69 Lamborghini Beverly Hills / OGara Coach Company Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo to good use, placing third during both rounds. On Friday, an error-free run would see the machine slowly work its way up the field, whereas on Saturday Mullins would turn his quickest laps of the weekend to overcome a few pit miscues. Whatever the case, both drivers were able to walk away with dual trophies, their top results of the season. This whole program has been a tremendous team effort, stated Mullins. Everyone did a great job to develop the cars and make us all feel very comfortable. Lime Rock was a good start for us, but the team really hit its stride this weekend. This has been a great series and a great experience. Its impressive to me how GMG truly is a team, stated OGara. James has made every effort to make us feel welcome and ensure its a good program, but hes also assembled an impressive group around him that really makes it work. Our podiums are a result of that. Finally, threatening for podium results during both races were celebrity drivers Bruce and Burt Jenner. Bruce, the Olympic gold medalist and current star of E! Entertainments Keeping Up with the Kardashians, showed his driving experience with immediate pace, keeping the car in contention during both runs. Burt, who most recently competed in Fords Octane Academy program, also showed strong development, running mistake free all weekend. The two would take an eighth overall in race one for the No. 33 Forgiato Tires Lamborghini, and fourth in race two; the highest of any GMG vehicle on Saturday. What a great series, stated Bruce. These cars are an absolute joy to drive, and everyone at GMG has done a fantastic job to get us up to speed and get us comfortable. We ran strong in both events, and so close to finishing on the podium that Im definitely ready for more, I really have to thank Forgiato for creating such a special opportunity.Im pretty happy with the weekend, continued Burt. This is a new type of car to compete in, but everyone was very open with sharing information and data, and that was a huge help. We learned a lot, and its going to go even better next time in the Forgiato machine. With a couple weeks until the next round, the team will take a small break before heading to Calabogie, Canada, for the third event of the season.
