Jack Aitken delighted to accept invitation to join BRDC Rising Stars

Current Fortec Motorsport driver Jack Aitken has been invited to join the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) ‘Rising Stars’ programme in only his second year of single seater motor racing.

Aged 24 and under, the BRDC Rising Stars are described as “the future of the Club, today”. Scouted from trackside, the BRDC Rising Stars are in effect ‘Junior Members’ of the Club, all taking their motor racing very seriously and aiming for a professional career within the sport. From all four-wheel racing disciplines, the Rising Stars (of which there are currently 31 drivers) represent the BRDC in national championships, and from the races contested while wearing the schemes unique ‘blue roundel’.

17 year-old Jack, from London, already has an impressive set of racing results under his belt. The 2009 BPKC Champion had an incredibly busy and productive following year. He came second in the 2010 Euromax Challenge Karting series while also achieving third place in Super 1 Karting; set the fastest lap at the World Finals of Karting; was awarded WMKC Driver of the Year and SRKC Most Promising Driver.

Following another year in karts, when he secured second place in the 2011 BNL Karting Series, Jack entered his inaugural single seater season, achieving third place in the 2012 Intersteps Championship, runner up in the Formula Renault BARC Winter Series and Top Rookie in both – all while attending his full time school education.

Jack is currently second in the 2013 Formula Renault 2.0 North European Championship, with two rounds remaining. He drives a FR2.0/13 by Tatuus car for the Fortec Motorsport team, based in Daventry, England.

Jack comments, "I am completely over the moon at being invited to such a prestigious scheme from a club that every British driver aspires to join. I can't wait to put the BRDC logo on my car, and I intend to do it justice for the rest of this year!"

Ian Titchmarsh, BRDC Rising Stars Panellist, "The British Racing Drivers’ Club is delighted to welcome Jack as one of the new intake of BRDC Rising Stars following a mid-season review by the Rising Stars’ Scouts of the progress of promising young drivers in various race categories. His performance in Formula Intersteps last year and in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup this year has marked him out as one of the single seater stars of the future.”

The sixth and penultimate round of the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC takes place at Most, Czech Republic on 1st September 2013.
