Fifth podium for Regalia as increases GP3 lead

It was his fifth podium this year with two rounds left.

Facu Regalia delivered another strong performance with ART Grand Prix car at Spa-Francorchamps.

The Argentina-born driver clinched his 5th podium over the course of the season and extended his lead in the overall standings. Regalia, after being third on Saturday, started sixth on the grid and already in the early stages he was a frontrunner – his goal was to finish into top-five places once again.

Fourth at the beginning, he passed another car to be third, a place he kept to the flag. Now, after another extremely positive weekend for his team and himself, he has 115 points in the overall classification - and is leading the rankings ten points ahead of his teammate Connor Daly.

“I made a good start, it was a shame because Sims blocked me. Otherwise I might have been second or even first at this point. Fortunately fourth place was a good place to be at the beginning and later I moved to third. Ellinas couldn´t score points today, so it was another interesting fact for our title chances. It was a good weekend for us, because we´re leading the series now, increasing our gap from race one to race two”, Regalia said. But with two rounds still ahead, Argentina´s driver is already focused on “Monza. We´re leaders but it isn´t enough, we want to win the championship. But there are four remaining races, so nothing is decided. Anyway we´re strong and are on our way to the title, anyway just keeping our hard work we´ll manage it to do. I want to keep my lead at Monza and maybe increase our advantage there, to arrive to UAE with our rivals as far as possible”.

Next round at Monza will be on 6-8 September.
