MotoGP World Championship returns to Silverstone this weekend

Rider appearances confirmed for fantastic weekend of Silverstone MotoGP entertainmentMotoGP riders confirmed for appearances and interviews on SaturdayThe FIM MotoGP World Championship returns to Silverstone this weekend (30 August – 01 September) for the Hertz British Grand Prix. In his most successful season to date, Britain’s Cal Crutchlow will go head-to-head with the best riders in the world, including World Champions Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and will be aiming to secure his fifth podium of the season and first ever win, in front of his home crowd.With spectacular on-track action guaranteed, Silverstone has developed a world class line-up of free off-track entertainment, including appearances from all 24 MotoGP riders after Qualifying on Saturday. The riders will be interviewed at various intervals between approximately 16:45 and 18:30hrs on Saturday evening on a purpose-built concert stage in the Luffield Complex area.As well as live entertainment on the main stage on Friday and Sunday, Saturday’s rider appearances will be topped and tailed with live music from acts including James Toseland and his band, and indie group ‘The Establishment’.Additional entertainment planned for the British Grand Prix weekend ranges from stunt shows and aerobatic displays, to interactive experiences that include off-road riding sessions and ‘first-time’ taster sessions.Silverstone’s line-up of incredible free weekend entertainment includes:

Barry Sheene Tribute Parade – marking ten years since his passing – takes place on Sunday between the Moto2 and MotoGP races, featuring several members of Barry’s family, former teammates and rivals riding a selection of his iconic race bikesGrand Prix Party on the Saturday evening, featuring on-stage appearances and interviews with all of the MotoGP™ ridersLive music on the Main Stage throughout the weekend from acts including James Toseland and his band, The Entertainment, White Bone Rattle, Mothership, The Skellies Band and Itch TeethStunt and freestyle displays from the Animal Action Sports Tour, featuring World Champion Trials Rider Martyn Ashton, Jump Riders and Free RunnersAerostars performing a death-defying air display in the skies over Silverstone on SundayInteractive taster sessions for fans of all ages, including: Get On! Zone test rides for anyone considering learning to ride a scooter or motorcycle; Honda - My First Licence for 5 – 11 year olds; OSET Bikes for kids up to 10 to experience electric off-road bikes, featuring skills displays from OSET Dynamo riders; Silverstone’s Rookie Ride Experience for kids aged 11 years and above to learn the basics of riding in a safe and controlled environmentManufacturer displays from Yamaha, Honda, Ducati and BridgestoneHelicopter pleasure flights for all the family from the base at Hangar StraightMeanwhile, on-track, all eyes will be on the eight British riders across the three different MotoGP™ classes. Cal Crutchlow and his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 teammate Bradley Smith will be flying the flag for the Brits in MotoGP™ along with Paul Bird Motorsport’s Michael Laverty, while Championship leader Scott Redding will be aiming to tighten his grip on the Moto2™ world title. Kyle Smith and Danny Kent join Redding on the Moto2™ grid, and Danny Webb and John McPhee will be pushing to give the Silverstone fans something to celebrate in Moto3™.
