Matt Mason joins BRDC Formula 4 with Mark Godwin Racing

21 year-old Matt Mason will join the BRDC Formula 4 Championship for the remainder of the season, after finalising a deal with series front runners Mark Godwin Racing.

Mason, from Southwell in Nottinghamshire, was the runner-up in the Intersteps category for the team in 2012, securing eight race wins and eight additional podium finishes. He followed that up with a strong run to third in the Formula Renault BARC Winter Series with one win and one podium from four races, having also finished sixth in the 2011 Formula Renault BARC Championship, with one win and two podiums.

Mason enthused: Im very excited to be joining the BRDC F4 Championship for the rounds at Snetterton and Donington and Im delighted to be racing again with Mark Godwin Racing. I know the team well having raced with them in Intersteps and Formula Renault BARC, and being in familiar surroundings, although with a car that is new to me, Im confident of securing good results and maybe even some podiums. Ive followed the progress of F4 all year and aim to make the most of this opportunity, and am looking forward to sampling the car for the first time in testing at Snetterton on Wednesday.

MGR Team Principal Mark Godwin is delighted to see Mason racing again. This is an ideal opportunity for Matt to show his potential he commented. Its great to be working with him again having run him in Formula Renault BARC and also in Intersteps last year where we came close to winning the championship. Hes very keen to make a good impression and is a very professional driver, and I look forward to working with him again in the final two rounds at Snetterton and Donington.
