with another impressive win
ADD Motorsports driver Lando Norris notched up another win in a season that shows no signs of slowing down.
The Glastonbury racer finished top of the podium in the CIK-FIA KF-Junior Super Cup despite admitting to not being at his best. Although second in the final, he was awarded the win after teammate Daniel Ticktum was penalised for hitting him from behind. But it failed to take the gloss off the end result.
He said: “It was a good result, but I can drive a lot better and made quite a few mistakes over the weekend.“We’re happy from the win, but there’s lots to take away and learn from.”
Lando was in the top five fastest drivers during testing but a change of engine saw him reach even faster lap speeds by the time he got to qualifying. He started all three heats in second place, but got into problems on the first corner of the track during the first two which saw him drop back considerably. But he managed to iron out the mistakes by the third heat to finish strongly.
Lando started the pre-final back in 11th and although moved up the grid quickly made another uncharacteristic mistake that saw him lose his position.
But again he managed to pull his performance together by the end of the race to finish fourth.
In the final, Lando started third, but soon found himself back in sixth after getting hit on the first corner.
But after finding some good pace he pulled away – until the pressure of his team mate behind him saw the gap lessen. He was then hit from behind which saw him lose his lead, but was awarded the victory after the race when his teammate was penalised for the move.
He added: “I started third in the final but got hit over the kerb on the first corner and was left back in sixth.“I almost crashed, so did well to keep my position.
“I drove the worst I’d driven later on when I was put under pressure and that’s something I want to learn from and an area I want to improve in for the next race.“We’re really happy with another win, but I think I can come away from this a lot stronger.”
