Samsung Honda seeks Donington boost

The Samsung Honda British Superbike team is at Donington Park in the East Midlands this weekend for round nine of the 2013 series with plenty to target.

Alex Lowes – who secured his place in the Showdown two rounds ago – is fresh from a stunning home-race double victory at Cadwell Park last time out. The 22-year-old will be hoping for further podium results to consolidate his second place in the points.

For his Samsung Honda team-mate, Ryuichi Kiyonari, the Donington round represents a final opportunity to cement his own place in the Showdown. The Japanese ace currently sits in fifth place in the overall standings and needs good results at the 4.003km Donington circuit in this weekend’s two ninth-round races to remain in contention.

Samsung Honda’s British Supersport contender Jason O’Halloran will be seeking to continue the good form that has seen the Australian rider bag two podiums on his CBR600RR in the last two rounds.

Alex LowesCadwell Park was a good round for us and my aim this weekend is to score as many podium credits as possible so we are ready for the Showdown. We still need to try and get those podiums this weekend but I am just focused on doing the best job I can. I never worry about anyone else because, as long as I give one hundred percent, I cannot do any more.

Ryuichi KyonariThis round is so important because of the Showdown, because at the moment we are in the top six so we need to stay there. We have improved again at Cadwell Park and we need to work hard again at the weekend. Donington Park was the place where I first won a race in BSB so I have good memories from there. I really like the track so I need to push hard to have a good result for Samsung Honda.

Jason O’HalloranI am looking forward to the weekend as Donington is a track where I have had success in the past with a win in the Superstock class, so I want to try and have another two good finishes here in Supersport. We come here off the back of a podium at Cadwell Park so we need to keep that rolling and be in the fight again here this weekend.
