Nyck de Vries quickest in Mugello Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS FP

Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) and Antonio Fuoco (Prema Junior) were the fastest in the three free practice sessions that opened the Mugello weekend, sixth out of the seven season Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS 2013 double venues.

Fastest lap time, 1’44”894, was set in the morning session by the Dutch driver, for the occasion at his return in the Fast Lane Promotion Series. For Fuoco, current Championship Leader, the satisfaction of the fastest time in the third session.

As said, de Vries led the group in the first session, doubling in the second when he still managed to preceed Fuoco, with the Estonian Hans Villemi (SMP Racing by Koiranen GP) and the Italian Luca Ghiotto (Prema Powerteam) swapping third place.

Among those that showed some good driving skills, the Scottish Gregor Ramsay (Euronova Racing), fourth in the morning. Positive day for his team mate Ukyo Sasahara. The Japanese, fourth in the afternoon was already recently involved in some testing for a two days session in Mugello.

Concerning the Italian Dario Capitanio (BVM Racing), at ease in Mugello last year when he seized the F.Renault 2.0 Italia Junior title, improved constantly during the day. A fourth place for Bruno Bonifacio as well (him too racing for Prema), in the midday session just ahead of the Swiss Kevin Joerg (Jenzer Motorsport).

Qualify is set for tomorrow when all drivers will be splitted into two groups for a 30 minutes session (one each) starting from 10.15. Race 1 is also set for tomorrow (25’ plus a lap) but at 17.05. Race 2 is as usual scheduled on Sunday at 13.40. Qualify and races will be broadcasted live on www.renaultsportitalia.it.
