Second place for Tutumlu at Spa GT Open

Amazing podium for the driver of Kurdish heritage at the wheel of the Porsche 997 GT3 R racing under the Barzani Racing Team banner as  Tutumlu and his teammate drove a faultless race to finish 2nd overall and also in GTS class.

Isaac Tutumlu shared the Porsche 997 GT3 R Autorlando Sport with Dimitris Deverikos.

After being 6th fastest in the qualifying session, Tutumlu was cautious at the start because there were some incidents on the opening lap.

His most difficult moment came when he was trying to overtake Duncan Cameron, who collided with Tutumlu's Porsche. Tutumlu decided to keep calm and avoid possible mistakes, with Deverikos taking over the car in fifth.

Shortly after the safety car was deployed and, almost at the same time, rain started. Deverikos pitted as soon as possible to change his tires and it proved to be the correct strategy. Their final result was a second place, an excellent step forward in fighting for the title.

“It was a difficult race, always working hard, mainly when I met Cameron. He was slower than me, but his GT2 car was faster on straights, so it was impossible to overtake him. I chose not to take risks and keep my car safe”, Tutumlu said. Key moment was when “we pitted to change to rain tires. We made this decision and this strategy to be correct at the end. It was pure team work, and everyone has done an excellent work. This podium is for Barzani family, of course for my sponsors too and, at this time, for people in Kurdistan. People are having a difficult moment with situation in Syria, so this result is for them with all my heart”.
