Facu Regalia completed another successful weekend on Italian soil drivng the ART Grand Prix Dallara GP3/13. Regalia in Monza as GP3 leader and again finished on podium once again, his sixth podioum this year. He then took a fourth place on Sunday and continues to lead the championship standings.
Saturday qualifying session wasn't easy as yellow flags prevented him from improving his 8th on the grid for race once. But Regalia proved he;'s a podium contender as soon as Saturday's race was started. He gained three places at the start and passed other two car shortly after, first when Connor Daly retired, and second when overtook Alexander Sims. From then on his main threat was coming from Lewis Williamon, but Regalia managed to block his attempts and to bring home another podium.
In race two, being sixth on the grid, the Argentinian driver didn't waste any time and moved into third place on lap one. As the race was coming to an end, Regalia´' car was getting harder to drive suffering from understeer, and he decided to take no risks, so Williamson and Kvyat overtook him.
With this fourth place Regalia leads with 138 points, seven ahead of Kvyat, who looks his stronger rival in the final two races.
“My first race was a difficult one because in qualifying our result wasn´t as good as we expected. But fortunately I could avoid clashes on the first chicane and took third place. At the end I had problems with Williamson, as he was coming very quick, but I gave him no overtake oportunities and to secure a new podium. On Sunday my start was pretty good too. When I climbed to second place I thought to have chances for fighting for victory, but my car was struggling with understeer problems. When I was caught by Williamson and Kvyat my thought was to have no faults, and finsihing 4th was a good balance for us”, Regalia assesed. For Yas Marina event, where the season ends in November, “it´s a big question mark, because nobody knows how it will bem. Our first feedback will come in the free practice session. But it´s going to be important to work a lot before to arrive there. Just in this way we´re able to clinch the title, as rivals are finishing very strong, mainly Kvyat”.
