WINS ARE THE ONLY TARGET FOR KX MOMENTUM BATTLERS

The MG KX Momentum drivers Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff are going to go all-out for race wins at the eighth meeting of the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Rockingham this weekend.Plato thinks that the 1.94-mile partially banked circuit will play to the strengths of his two-litre turbocharged MG6 as he aims to add to his tally of four victories already this season.“We were very fast at Rockingham last year and that should carry over to 2013 as well,” he says. “It is an interesting track with lots of technical bits, but everybody loves the banked Turn One, which is taken flat out. It is a ballsy corner and one which requires total commitment – it’s right up my alley.”After some tough times at recent meetings, Plato says that he will adopt an all-out approach in Northamptonshire this weekend and let the championship position take care of itself.“I will be Harry Flatters,” he says. “It is quite liberating because all I need to do now is concentrate on race wins and I don’t have to play any strategic games just to bank points. Whatever else happens will happen in terms of the bigger picture but nothing but victories will do for me now. That means I will be on maximum attack at Rockingham and for the rest of the season.”Tordoff is also targeting a return to the top step of the podium after breaking his victory duck in the summer. The Yorkshire racer, in his first season of competition in the British Touring Car Championship, said: “I really think that we stand an excellent chance this weekend.“The track is pretty similar to Snetterton, where I won, in that it has lots of high-speed corners where the car is under load. That is a particular strength of the MG. Also, we will be going in to the meeting without any success ballast, while all of the other frontrunners will have. That will play to our advantage too, so I am very optimistic.”Team principal Ian Harrison said that the MG KX Momentum squad had been working hard behind the scenes to give the drivers the best possible chance of victory at Rockingham. “We have worked hard and gone through all the data since the last round – we have left no stone unturned,” he said. “I am quietly confident going into this meeting because it is a track that we were strong at last season and we have refined our car even further since then.
