Tutumlu claims another podium in International GT Open

Isaac Tutumlu will remember for years to come the second race of the International GT Open at the Autódromo do Algarve. It was a race even more difficult than that celebrated on Saturday. In race one, despite a huge time handicap – 85 seconds-, Tutumlu and his teammate Maxime Soulet claimed an impressive race win. But the challenge on Sunday with 100 seconds made it even more exacting.

Soulet, driving the Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 entered by Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani, started from the pole position and led for his entire stint. By the halfway point Soulet pitted and Tutumlu took over at the wheel of the American muscle car. His race pace was absolutely amazing and caught and passed Sdanewitsch before long. But his next stop was Montermini, and Tutumlu and his Italian rival started an unforgettable duel. Finally, after some excellent maneuvers, Tutumlu overtook Montermini´s Ferrari. With Maleev ahead, Tutumlu picked up his slipstream but the Russian spun and Tutumlu ran wide to avoid an accident. Montermini took advantage from this to overtake Tutumlu again and the Barzani Racing Team could not retake that place. Anyway, when the race was over, another car was disqualified by reason of running under weight and Tutumlu and Soulet moved into podium places.

“Brilliant weekend for us as we achieved first and third places two pole positions and fastest laps. I am delighted to drive this car, I feel so comfortable at the wheel and I want to thank SRT by Barzani and Corvette Racing their support along the whole weekend. Of course I will not forget about my teammate Maxime and my sponsors, Barzani family, Ster Group and Golden Eagle Global”, Tutumlu commented, highlighting “my battle with Montermini was incredible, his experience is huge and I fought against him for several laps. We were the quickest this weekend and our goal is to follow the same path within two weeks. We really strive!”.
