MJW GoandFun Kawasaki May Review‏

It has been a busy month for the MJW Go&Fun Kawasaki team, both Preston Williams and Lewis Woods returned to racing at the GT Cup at Hilton Moto Parc and also the MX Nationals at Pontrilas.

At the GT Cup Lewis Woods worked his way through to a top five position before a big crash set him backwards, after remounting he was able to gain 12th at the end of the race. In race two he rode really well gaining seventh place at the flag. On Sunday morning and race three he gained another 12th place, followed by two eighth places in the remaining two races of the day and secured eighth overall.

Dan Shepherd racing his Kawasaki KX85 in the Big Wheeled 85 class had a rocky ride on Saturday, he worked hard to get up to fourth place, he dropped back to fifth place at the flag. A problem in race two forced Dan out of the race and that left him with a lot of work to do on the Sunday. He had a good positive day on Sunday and gained sixth in race three and four. A crash in the final race of the day saw him have re-join, get his head down and work hard to battle back through the pack to secure 10th and 11th overall.

It was a tricky weekend at the MX Pro Nationals at Pontrilas with poor weather conditions playing havoc with the track lay-out.

Preston had a tough qualifying session hampered by a poor start in the race and despite his best efforts was unable to secure any points in the opening race. He was able to improve during the second race on Sunday and finish in the points in 17th position earning his first points of the series in that Championship. He went on to two more successful point scoring races with 20th and 17th with 21st overall on the weekend.

It was also a difficult weekend for the most senior member of the team, Rob Davidson. Qualifying in 18th place after some last minute bike changes the first race proved challenging. Whilst sitting in 10th place a crash saw him hit the deck and loose three places eventually finishing in 14th place. In the second race he rode a strong race to finish in 11th. The final race of the day ended his day on a positive note finishing in a strong eighth position and 11th overall on the weekend.

Preston Williams - "I was pretty pleased with my results, I scored my first points of the series and I was fourth in my class which I'm pretty pleased with. I know what I have to work on for the forthcoming rounds."

Rob Davidson - "The Saturday was really bad for me as I just didn't gel with the track all weekend and therefore I was having issues setting up my Kawasaki. We managed to make some good changes and by the final race of the weekend I felt much more confident about everything and this showed in my results. It's a tough first year in the pro class and I am learning new things each time I go out on the Go&Fun Kawasaki, I'd like to thank Mark at MJW again for all his help so far."

Mark Woodage - Team Owner - "It's been a busy month for the boys and they have all been learning each time they have gone out on track. Each of them is progressing at every round and I hope that continues for the rest of the season. Denny (Rapson) is currently sitting out of racing at the moment after breaking his leg, we wish him all the best and his bike will be waiting for him when he is fully fit. We would also like to wish Will Keogh all the best with his GCSE's and he'll be back to racing before we know it.

I will continue to develop the younger riders and help them progress through the ranks by giving them the chance and opportunity to race within a team. They all work well together and I am confident by the end of the season we will be reporting on some strong results to finish the season on a high."
