Coates Hire Racing Ambassador John Bowe heads to the Northern Territory seeking a hat trick of round wins at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway in the 2014 Touring Car Masters, this weekend.
Bowe has dominated proceedings at Australia’s most northern race venue, securing pole position, winning all races and collecting round wins in both 2012 and 2013, aboard his famous 1969 Trans Am Mustang ‘Sally’.
While Bowe and Jim Richards (Ford Falcon Sprint) have split the opening two rounds of this year’s championship, five different drivers have scored wins in the first six races of the year so far.
Tony Karanfilovski (Mustang Trans Am), Mark King (Chevrolet Camaro) and Andrew Miedecke (Chevrolet Camaro) have also sprayed the champagne from the top step of the podium this season in what is shaping up to be one of the most open seasons on record.
On his venture north Bowe said: “I always look forward to racing in Darwin. The escape from the cold weather is welcome and the reception we get from the crowd and atmosphere at the event and in Darwin itself is always special.
“Although I’d love to nail a hat trick of wins up here, the competition has really stepped up this year and the competition more fierce than ever. I know the ‘Masters’ will turn on a great spectacle for the fans and as always I’ll do my best and see what comes of it at the end of the weekend”.
