Volkswagen weekend motorsport news round up

Castrol CupWins for Kupcikas and Kruger

Robertas Kupcikas (LT) and Jeffrey Kruger (ZA) also prevented a first win of a Polish driver this year at the third race weekend of the Volkswagen Castrol Cup Poland. Lithuania's Kupcikas overtook Jan Kisiel (PL), who started the race in pole position, just after the start during the first race in Poznan, Poland. Kupcikas defended his lead as the entire field were forced to change to wet tyres after seven laps due to a shower and he clinched his third victory of the season ahead of Kisiel. Gosia Rdest (PL) finished in a strong sixth place as the fastest women in the field. In the second race, the South African Kruger recorded his first victory in the Volkswagen Castrol Cup. He certainly profited from a drive-through penalty given to Kisiel, who once again started the race in pole position, but made a false start. Kupcikas finished in third place behind Marcus Fluch (S). The Lithuanian driver Kupcikas tops the overall classification with 220 points after six out of fourteen races ahead of Fluch on 194 points. Football legend Jerzy Dudek (PL) now has a total of 61 points following his strong eleventh place finish in the first race in Poznan and is subsequently in seventeenth place overall.
