Chris Murphy joins BRDC F4 Championship as Technical Director

MSV has announced the appointment of Chris Murphy as Technical Director of the BRDC F4 Championship. Murphy joins the series in time for the third round of the 2014 season at Snetterton this weekend (21-22 June).

Murphy, 57, has an enormous wealth of motorsport engineering experience spanning 40 years in the industry. A significant proportion of his career was spent with F1 teams such as Zakspeed, Lola and Team Lotus, before he moved on to work in top flight sportscar and DTM projects.

More recently, Chris has been one of the most respected race engineers and team managers in F3000 and GP2, with BCN Competition, Piquet Sport, Campos and Addax. Picking up many race wins and team championships, he worked with an array of drivers who are now familiar names in the upper echelons of the sport including F1.

Chris will attend all BRDC F4 events, providing liaison between the F4 teams and MSV’s technical department, honing the current chassis and engine package, and evaluating developments and updates for later this season and 2015. He will also play a crucial role in maintaining equality and reliability throughout the field.

MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: “We’re delighted to welcome Chris as part of the BRDC F4 technical team. His experience of designing and engineering single-seater racing cars will be an enormous asset to the championship and a great resource for the teams to be able to call on.”
