Ginetta GT4 Points Lead In Robertson's Sights At Croft

Fresh from a fantastic double race win at Oulton Park a fortnight ago, Charlie Robertson’s sights are squarely fixed on regaining the points lead in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup when the fifth race meeting of the season takes place at Croft in North Yorkshire next weekend, 28th/29th June.Heading to the popular Darlington track just four points shy of the top of the standings, the Scottish 17-year-old is relishing the prospect of racing at Croft for the first time since his title-winning season in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2012.With six podiums to his credit so far in his maiden GT4 SuperCup campaign, including four superb wins, Charlie has adapted to his 3.7-litre, 355bhp Ginetta G55 seamlessly and has consistently been one of the quickest drivers in the series – despite racing against some highly experienced opposition.Having brilliantly taken the championship lead during the second race meeting of the season at Donington Park in April, the HHC Motorsport driver then encountered a challenging weekend at Thruxton but after his stunning Oulton Park success he is right back in the hunt.Hungry to reclaim the initiative just a week from now as the campaign reaches its halfway point, the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star and MSA Academy racer – who spent last weekend as a spectator at the Le Mans 24 Hours in France – is relishing his return to competitive action.Next weekend’s event sees the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup return to its regular triple-header format at HHC’s ‘home’ track and Charlie is determined to be in the fight for more wins as he seeks to end the first half of the season in style. While it has been two years since the Investigo and Blackstar-backed racer last competed at Croft, he celebrated a double podium finish back in 2012 in Ginetta Juniors when aged only 15-years-old, Charlie is confident of a successful return to the North East.“Oulton Park was absolutely fantastic, it was just what we needed after Thruxton”, commented the Whyteleafe-based driver, “Croft should be good, I’m looking forward to racing there again and it’s obviously an important weekend for HHC with it being the team’s home circuit. We’ve been quick at every track we’ve visited so far this year, so there’s no reason we shouldn’t be fast next weekend.“More wins would be nice but the aim is to try and retake the championship lead, we know we’ve got the car and the pace to achieve that if everything goes to plan. There’s a long gap in the calendar after Croft so it’s important to try and end the first half of the season with good momentum .”After pre-event practice at Croft next Friday, 27th June, Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup qualifying will take place at 13.40 on Saturday, 28th June, with round 12 getting underway at 17.00. Rounds 13 and 14 will follow on Sunday, 29th June, at 13.15 and 17.45 respectively – the earlier of the two races will be screened live on ITV4 , ITV4 HD and streamed online at www.itv.com/btccProvisional 2014 Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Driver Standings (after Rd11):2nd Charlie Robertson, 275pts
