Tomas Kostka takes home pole at Brno Eurov8series

TOPS NICOLA BALDAN - ROOKIE ZONZINI (AUDI) AND SINI (CHEVROLET) WILL SHARE ROW 2

For a racer, the home event is always special and Audi Sport Italia’s Tomas Kostka made no exception. The Czech took full advantage of the opportunity and brought his Audi RS5 to pole by a large margin. Thanks to a personal best lap of 2:07.751, he will lead the pack at the rolling start of Race 1 being the only man to break the 2:08-barrier. Lining-up at his side will be the R.R.T. Mercedes C63 AMG of Nicola Baldan.

Audi’s rookie Emanuele Zonzini, coming from San Marino, will be sharing row 2 with Francesco Sini and his rebuilt Chevrolet Camaro, as Solaris Motorsport did a phenomenal job in repairing the car after their shunt at Mugello. On the other hand, BMW had a tougher day with Max Mugelli, Niccolò Mercatali and Maurizio Copetti holding positions 5 to 7 for Team BMW Dinamic. Rounding out Row 4 was Ermanno Dionisio on the third Audi. Diego Romanini, campaigning a Mercedes C63 AMG for CAAL Racing, will open the fifth row in front of MRT’s Giovanni Lavaggi (Lexus) and Mercedes men Nico Caldarola and Giampiero Pindari.

Thanks to today’s pole, Kostka trimmed his championship gap by one point to Baldan and is now 11 points away while Mercatali holds third place with 82 points.

The round at Brno will be the last of the season featuring double 25-minute + 1 lap races, while the two closing rounds of 2014, scheduled at Sachsenring and Hockenheim will feature a single race weekend. The two races will be starting tomorrow at 10:00 AM and 15:15 PM with live timing and streaming services on www.eurov8series.com.
