Declan Jones gets RLR Msport call-up for Dijon

Liverpool-based youngster to sample a Ligier JS53 Evo in the V de V Championship in FranceDeclan Jones will compete with RLR Msport in the 2014 V de V Endurance Series event at Dijon in France this weekend (June 27-29), making his debut in the squad’s Ligier JS53 Evo, it can be confirmed. The Halewood Village-based youngster, who is the 2013 British GT4 vice-champion, will share the car for the three hour race with Kelvin Fletcher, running in the Endurance Proto class. The call-up comes after Declan impressed RLR Msport Team Principal Nick Reynolds earlier this month at Silverstone during the third round in the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The University of Bolton-based outfit took over the running of Dec’s BMW M3 GT4 for that event.“I love racing, so I am really happy to get this chance to compete in Dijon with RLR Msport,” said Declan, who is backed this year by Club Liv Manchester, The London Perfume Company, Chicago Soft, Twisted, Vision Tech, Taylors Fitness and Power and Fitness Gym.“RLR did a great job with the BMW M3 GT4 at Silverstone and it will be great to work with them all again and of course to team up with Kelvin, who has done two other V de V events this year in the Ligier. It is going to be fantastic to get behind the wheel of that car and after having to sit out the British GT event at Snetterton (June 21-22), I’m especially looking forward to it.”“I don’t have a specific target as I have never driven the car before,” added the 19-year-old. “But on the plus side I have raced at Dijon in the past in V de V finishing first in class in a 2 hour Historic race in a Chevron B54 that I was sharing with Alain Schlesinger.“I will be aiming to make the most of practice and then go as fast as I can in the race.“I want to thank RLR Msport for the opportunity.”RLR Msport Team Principal Nick Reynolds commented: “I am hoping for a good result in Dijon after Declan did such an amazing job at Silverstone with the BMW. I was very impressed with his consistency there, especially as he is such a young guy. I know that he will transfer from GTs and whatever else he has driven to the Prototypes with no problem. All-in-all I am expecting big things.”“Going forward this will probably be a one-off in V de V, but we might do some Britcar rounds later this year as well with Declan.”
