Kimiya Sato takes the lead in AutoGP practice 2

Kimiya Sato, driving for Euronova, set the fastest lap of the afternoon in the second Auto GP practice sessioni at Imola. The championship-leading Japanese edged the pack with a lap of 1:32.349 with Markus Pommer in close pursuit for Supernova, 0.05s back. Kevin Giovesi (FMS) will try to regain the lead in terms of pole positions at he stands 2-2 with Pommer.

The positive comeback of 2012 runner-up Pal Varhaug continued as the Virtuosi UK Norwegian tries to repeat the good results scored in the GP3 Series. By taking 4th, he topped Super Nova’s Michela Cerruti and Virtuosi UK team-mate Andrea Roda. Christof von Grunigen has stayed in the leading pack in 7th in front of Italians Francesco Dracone (Super Nova), Vittorio Ghirelli (FMS) and Michele La Rosa (MLR71 by Euronova).

Everything’s now ready for Qualifying which will go underway tomorrow and will feature two knockout rounds to shape-up the starting grid. Race 1 will start Saturday afternoon at 15:15 and will run on a 20-lap distance, while the 17-lap long Race 2 will take-off at 11:40. Both races will be broadcasted live by international TV network Eurosport.
