Facu Regalia to skip GP2 event at Silverstone

After technical problems affecting Facu Regalia´s car in the first four meetings, coupled with a lack of funding, he will skip the next GP2 round taking place at Silverstone next weekend.

After the Austrian event, where the goals were not met again, Facu Regalia held a meeting with Franz Hilmer to explain the reasons for not comntinuing with Hilmer Motorsport. Regalia will draw up his racing programme with his management team, exploring different options to continue his racing career. It should be noted that it doesn´t change his position as a member in the Driver Development Programme of the Sahara Force India Formula 1 Team.

Facu Regalia: “On Sunday, after our second race in Austria, I made the decision to stop competing with the team. I spoke to Franz Hilmer and I gave him a number of reasons: the team wasn´t able to have a competitive car, as I had set-up problems in Bahrain, Spain and Austria, and engine issues throughout the season, even in Monaco. On the other hand, the lack of financial support has played a significant role as well, because otherwise I would have joined DAMS, Racing Engineering, ART or Campos Racing.

"The solution involves finding a new team, but I need the support which I havn't had so far with the exception of YPF, Varlion and a private Argentine entrepreneur. I would like to make clear my professional relationship with SFIF1 doesn´t have to change, because the team isn´t directly involved in the technical part.

I need a car to fight for top-places, as I proved possible last year, and retain my chance to reach the pinnacle of motorsport: Formula 1. At this point I'm evaluating proposals received to race in the Formula E. I wish to thank YPF and Varlion for their support and confidence”.
