Italian team lines up two Ferraris 458 with Montermini / Schirò in the International GT Open and with newcomer Balzan alongside Salaquarda in the Blancpain Sprint Series
For the first time in the season Scuderia Villorba Corse's programmes get crossed over the weekend of July 6. Italian team led by Raimondo Amadio get back on track with Montermini / Schirò in the fourth round of the International GT Open at the Hungaroring and with Balzan / Salaquarda in the third round of the Blancpain Sprint Series at Zandvoort. Both crews on Ferrari 458 GT3.
Andrea Montermini and Niccolò Schirò will front a very crucial weekend in Budapest as the reigning champion from Modena and the young talent from Milan lead the GT Open standings. After the recent and thrilling win at Jerez, now their new rival will be the highest handicap-time the Villorba crew will have to pay during driver change because of their latest results. At the Hungaroring 19 GT cars are expected to get on track for the two free practice sessions which will open the racing weekend on Friday, July 4. On Saturday qualifying sessions are scheduled at 9:15 and 11:40 while race-1 will take place at 15:55. On Sunday race-2 will start at 12:55. Both races will be broadcasted live on www.gtopen.net (clicking on WEB TV).
For the first time alongside Filip Salaquarda, Alessandro Balzan's debut with Villorba Corse marks their weekend in Holland on the “dunes” of Zandvoort. The goal, always tough in a competitive championship such as the Blancpain Sprint Series, is to confirm the progressive improvements the Italian team has shown at Brands Hatch with the sole Ferrari in the field. The Dutch weekend will kick off on Friday, July 4 with two free practice sessions. On Saturday qualifying practice will take place at 9:00 and qualifying race at 13:45, while the start of main race is scheduled on Sunday at 11:45. BSS event at Zandvoort will be broadcasted (live, deferred and highlights) worldwide on many TV channels and on www.blancpain-gt-series.com (clicking on GT TV).
“We are going to face a very challenging weekend that will see us involved, simultaneously, in two of the greatest international GT championships - says Amadio, Team Principal -. With Andrea and Niccolò, in Hungary, we have to defend our leadership in GT Open. With Alessandro and Filip, in Holland, we have to confirm our progress in the Blancpain Sprint Series. Concentration will be at the highest levels and managing everything more difficult than ever. But I know that I can count on a super team, both on track and in the pits, so I am sure that we will be able to handle this double challenge in the best possible way. We come from very positive results, we will do everything to confirm them.”
