Holland vs Russia: FR 2.0 ALPS World Challenge is about to go live in Monza

No football though. On the Northern Italian track, the upcoming weekend (4-6 July), is about to be held the fifth out of season’s seven venues of Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS. The awaited duel is between Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) and the 16y/o from Moscow Matevos Isaakyan, top driver of JD Motorsport, respectively first and second in the general standings.

Six wins scored by de Vries so far, two for Isaakyan (both in Red Bull Ring). In Monza watch out though also for the Monaco driver Charles Leclerc (Fortec Motorsports) who managed twice third in Spa and also a second place on the twisty street circuit of Pau in May. High expectations for the Brit George Russell, him too racing with the Finn team Koiranen GP and fourth overall. Two podium’s placements for him in 2014.

Looking for a good result is the French Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering), who after the two early in the season second and third place, did not manage to achieve more encouraging results. Same will for the Italian BVM Racing driver, Dario Capitanio, who is improving race after race. A fifth place for him in Spa as the best result. Still among the Italians, Alessio Rovera (Cram Motorsport) might still impress after having scored second in Austria. The Italian track is also the home track of Pietro Peccenini (TS Corse) and Daniele Cazzaniga (GSK Grand Prix), both determined to perform at their best.

Once more with MGR Motorsport there will be Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of the legendary Emerson who in Monza took F1 victory back in 1972 with Lotus. In that year he also won the first of his two World Titles.

Friday it will be free practice time. Both sessions will last 60 minutes. On Saturday, starting from 10.15 the single qualifying session while at 5pm there will be Race 1 green light. The race as the one set on Sunday at 2.15 pm will last 25’ plus a lap. Qualify and races will be live stramed on www.renaultsportitalia.it.
