Verstappen secures impressive start to finish Masters in Zandvoort victory

Max Verstappen (NL) has won the tradition-steeped Formula 3 Masters in Zandvoort.

The 16 year-old, who is currently speeding from one victory to the next in the Formula 3 European championship, secured a masterful victory where he led from start to finish on the twisting sand dune circuit on the Dutch North Sea coast in the Dallara F312 “powered by Volkswagen” of the Motopark team and wrote history in the process – twice.

It was Volkswagen's first ever victory in the Formula 3 Masters, also Verstappen's father, ex Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen, won the important international race for the best Formula 3 drivers on the same spot 21 years ago.

Max Verstappen subsequently added his name to a list of former winners, which includes greats such as David Coulthard, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hülkenberg
