Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team finished on the podium of the International GT Open Race 2 at Hungaroring in the most unlikely circumstances, with his Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 left-side tyres punctured.
Teammate Maxime Soulet started the race and his first stint was pretty good, he overtook four cars in no time and was running in third place. Shortly before his pit-stop, Soulet was passed by José Manuel Pérez-Aicart.
Tutumlu was took over the stint and was running in second cut the distance to leader Viacheslav Maleev to less than 2 seconds.Maleev spun and Tutumlu took the lead, but his tyres were already destroyed by then and he was unable to keep Miguel Ramos at bay.
“I have done my best but it was impossible. Finally Ramos overtook me. We decided not to change our tyres when pitted but at the end our tyres were destroyed. Further, our left-side tires were punctured and on the right handers the car was very difficult to handle”, Tutumlu stressed. "At Silverstone, in mid-July, our goal is to win at least once. We think it is an affordable target if the car doesn´t have mechanical issues and we make no mistakes. We are happy at Barzani Racing Team after this weekend but we want to keep improving if possible”.
