TT Legend John McGuinness Gets A Lesson From Speedway World Champ Tai Woffinden‏

One is a road-racing legend with 21 Isle of Man TT victories to his name. One is the current Speedway World Champion making history. Together they burned some serious rubber.

Ahead of this weekend's Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff, we took TT supremo John McGuinness to get some tutoring from the best in the business - British star Tai Woffinden - and he didn't disappoint.

For a man used to hitting speeds of over 190mph it should be a walk in the park, right?

Wrong. Here’s what John had to say; “I never thought I’d be on track with the world champion, I’ve always been a speedway fan so to get on track with Tai was just awesome.

“It’s not easy, I was on my backside a few times! I went to Belle Vue a few years ago and though ‘how hard can it be?’ so I bought a bike and then dislocated my shoulder the first time I rode it so not a great start. I’ve got so much respect for what these boys do, Tai came past me in a cloud of dust a few times and made me look pretty average but it was a great experience.”

The young champ was pretty impressed with John’s efforts though. “John went really well, he wasn’t scared and got out there. He was comfortable from the off and if he wanted to really get faster it’s just about getting some time on the bike and getting consistent. You can tell he knows how to ride this different style of bike, so it was cool to be able to give him a few tips.”

John will be heading to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, UK this Saturday 12th July to support Tai at the next round of the Speedway World Championship - presented by Monster Energy.
