National Motorsport Week: New award for Motorsport Clubs

National Motorsport Week kicked off last Saturday 5 July and will run through until Sunday 13 July.

The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) and Motor Sport Association (MSA), the UK's leading national Motorsport organisations, have teamed up to support a competition which gives motorsport clubs across the UK the chance to win £1,000 to aid growth.

The Motorsport Foundation has doubled the prize money for 2014. The winning club can use the £1,000 award freely to encourage greater participation in motorsport and promote the UK's growing industry.

The Motorsport Foundation asks clubs to run events during National Motorsport Week that reach out and encourage newcomers to the sport. The prize will be awarded by the Motorsport Foundation to the club event that best captures the spirit of National Motorsport Week.

Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA, said: "We are delighted to be promoting National Motorsport Week again, after so much success in the past few years. Although the UK motorsport industry is thriving, it is imperative we continue to encourage new people to get involved, be it to watch or work in the sport. We are excited to see this year's entrants and we look forward to presenting the winning club with well-deserved funding to be invested back into the sport we all love"

National Motorsport Week celebrates the UK motorsport industry. Promoted by the MIA, the MSA and Go Motorsport, NMW will also feature a wide range of initiatives and activities ranging from novice taster events run by local motor clubs to factory visits and open days at many of the UK's premier Motorsport focused organisations.
