Meadows aiming for more Carrera Cup GB wins

Michael Meadows says he will be pushing for more race wins over the second half of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season as he battles to close down the current 10-point gap to championship leader Josh Webster.Meadows (Samsung UHD TV Racing) lies second in the overall title race after nine of the season’s 19 races and says that adding to his five maximum scores to date is his main target when the season resumes at Snetterton (2/3 August) after a five-week mid-season break.Meadows started the 2014 season with two consecutive Carrera Cup titles under his belt and led the championship until the most recent race weekend at Croft when damage sustained in qualifying forced him to miss the opening race and allowed Webster (Redline Racing) to take over the points’ lead.“Josh has picked up podiums every weekend and I’ve had five wins, a second a third and a sixth and a non-start,” said Meadows. “It just shows that you have to keep scoring in every race. We’re just under halfway through the season in terms of races and I’ll be back on it at Snetterton. The aim is race wins. It’s going to be a good battle with Josh. It’s not over yet!”Before the Snetterton race weekend, Meadows will race in the 24 Hours of Spa at the end of July, which should offer him good seat time during the summer break. He will also test his Carrera Cup car at Snetterton and was able to fit in a quick in Marbella holiday straight after the Croft race weekend.Current overall drivers’ points: 1 Josh Webster 167; 2 Michael Meadows 157; 3 Paul Rees 125; 4 Victor Jimenez 113; etc.July 15th 2014
