Turnaround In Fortunes Targeted By SWR At Oulton F4‏

Race winning BRDC Formula 4 Championship team SWR is hoping for a major turnaround in fortunes when the single-seater category travels to Oulton Park a couple of days from now, the eagerly anticipated fourth event of the season taking place on Friday, 18th July, and Saturday, 19th July.So far this year, the Chipping Norton squad has encountered much more than its share of misfortune with a variety of on-track incidents and luckless contact impacting all three drivers – Danish racer Nicolas Beer, British rookie Jordan Albert and Venezuela’s Diego Borrelli.Only adding to the frustration is the clear pace which SWR has displayed from the outset this season, first year F4 racer Beer having finished in second place during round two at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit at the beginning of the campaign.Since then, the Dane has posted four non-finishes and with the addition of a non-start in the third of the Brands Hatch races in May – due to a long-standing family commitment – Beer’s position in the driver standings isn’t remotely indicative of his genuine speed and capability.Albert and Borrelli, while not having endured quite as much hardship as their more experienced team-mate, are also long overdue a trouble-free weekend and will be determined to string together three strong points finishes at Oulton’s 2.69-mile International Circuit.“It’s not been the season any of us wanted so far, we’ve had so much bad luck but we’ve also shown the pace is there to be challenging for the podium each weekend and that’s the aim for Oulton”, said team owner Sean Walkinshaw, who will also be in competitive action on Saturday and Sunday in the EuroFormula Open at Silverstone, “Hopefully, this can be the turning point in SWR’s season.“We’ve got three fantastic young drivers in Nicolas, Jordan and Diego, all three have got a huge amount of potential and they each deserve some better fortune this weekend. Oulton is a very demanding and challenging track and is a real test of skill, we won there last year so we know we have the car and the set-up to do well.”Going into the weekend’s action in picturesque rural Cheshire, Albert is the highest placed SWR driver in the championship standings in 14th position and has a best result so far of sixth which came at Brands Hatch in May. The Briton is a single point ahead of Silverstone podium finisher Beer while Borrelli is in 17th place – his best finish up to now is seventh, also at Brands Hatch.Oulton Park qualifying will take place at 13.15 on Friday, 18th July, with the first race of the weekend getting underway at 16.30. On Saturday, 19th July, round 11 is set to begin at 10.50 with round 12 scheduled to start at 14.55.Provisional 2014 BRDC Formula 4 Championship driver standings (after Rd9):14th Jordan Albert, 65pts; 15th Nicolas Beer, 64pts; 17th Diego Borrelli, 50pts
