AutoGP: Kimiya Sato scores maiden Auto GP pole‏

Japanese racer Kimiya Sato put together a masterful performance in qualifying for the sixth round of the 2014 Auto GP season. The Euronova-run driver, who elected to miss the GP2 Series this weekend in order to defend his Auto GP lead at Zeltweg, scored an impressive maiden pole in the series, also extending his championship advantage with 2 bonus points.

Sato will be joined onto the front row by Hungarian Tamas Pal Kiss (Virtuosi UK) who will try to close the gap he has in standings from Kevin Giovesi (FMS) and Markus Pommer (Super Nova). He will have a brilliant occasion as the Italian had to content with fourth behind Euronova's Shinya Michimi while the German experienced a technical issue and could not score a single lap time in Q2. Row 3 will be shared by Italianis Andrea Roda (Virtuosi UK) and Michela Cerruti (Super Nova).Unfortunately, missing the cut to Q2 was fellow countryman Salvatore De Plano, as he stopped for a spin at the last corner and lost the chance to try and make it to the top-10.The Auto GP action is ready to begin. Both races are scheduled for tomorrow, July 20th at 8:30 AM and 11:20 AM. Live coverage will be provided by international network Eurosport.
